Thanks everybody for reading/commenting our blog. We don't often comment back but it's exciting for us to read the comments every morning, we love 'em and we love all of you. We also miss everyone and it's nice to hear about what's going on back on the East Coast! (or West Coast). We also love phone calls to break up the driving.
Went to Lucille's for breakfast. Delicious but as far as we can tell, southern hospitality is a myth.
Our last pic. of Oklahoma. This guy hated it so much he went to outer space.
Someone lives here.
They love the devil's rope in Texas.
Our first ticket compliments of Texas, just moments after Nick made the comment that he couldn't believe we hadn't been pulled over yet.
Largest cross.
Amarillo TX. The Big Texan- Nick was all over this place.
If you eat all this, you get it for free. The 72oz. steak alone is 7,000 calories.
4 out of 5 ribs- extremely tender, sauce was a little over powering but a good pork flavor. Nice portion sizing.
New Mexico!
These pictures do NM little justice, trust me.
Some abandon gas station off route 40, also smelled like carcass.
This photo came out so nicely.
There was no one on this road for long spans of time. There was also a sign that said "Do not pick up hitchhikers, detention facility ahead."
The clouds casting shadows.
Roswell, NM. Ryan, we're going to area 51/the UFO museum tomorrow, so check out the blog brotha'.
The freaks made it.
Roswell's a cool little town. It feels like the twilight zone theme song should be playing all the time. Strange folks 'round these parts. We're on mountain time now, which gives us an extra hour to do laundry and get some much needed sleep. Tomorrow we're going to hoard as much of the free breakfast buffet as we can so we can save it for our journey to the white sands and mesa verde. Goodnight!
1 month. 8,000 miles. 16 states. Nick, Janie and a Prius.

Now that's what I was waiting for-Nick chowing down on some juicy, greasy ribs. Great rating also! By the way, your new camera is taking excellent pictures. That stinks you got a ticket. They say everythings BIG in Texas, sure hope the amount wasn't. Hope you enjoy Mesa Verda tomorrow. Love ya, Gram
ReplyDeleteI guess the Texans aren't exactly famous for their giant veggie burgers huh Janie! I'm with Gram on the ticket comment. Although Dad used to say the true "moyer" thing to do with a speeding ticket is proudly frame it or put it on your fridge! Personally, in Texas I'd just go with paying it.
ReplyDeleteLove the pics. I never have noticed clouds actually cast shadows like that. I always just thought it was a cool literary saying. Amazing the things we take for granted! Really beautiful. Pictures from the OK state park looked pretty too. We're all excited to see more photos. The kids have their own comments as far as area 51 that I'll let them post.
Home front update: Dad, Pop-pop and Jeremy are all off to Canada. Aubrey still has issues with Nick's slayer role, saying that wolves don't shop in stores in the first place. This has come up quite a few times. She hasn't seen the cat picture yet but I'm sure she'll have something to tell Nick about it. Maybe she'll belive he slayed that. Love you guys!
i love you guys, the pictures are so great.
ReplyDeletesooo i got tattooed yesterday, j i fully expect to get tattoooed again with you this time.
i hope everythings fun, new mexico is bosssssss. notice all the adobe highways and houses, kinda hate kinda love. arizona next? lemme knowww love you!
Yes, it's hard to wrap ones brain around that fact that people in mid-America live in those conditions. CRAZY! So i see Nick is determined to make this an adventure rather than a road trip. Don't mess with Texas Nick! It's not prudent. lol Tyler says Nick is totally awesome, so you have a fan Nick. You guys are cruising across the country, I can't believe your in NM already. It seem your Prius is the mother ship in Roswell. Don"t get abducted (Nick) and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteJanie/Nick, I hope you are safe. Take care I hope everything is good.
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Donna
